Getting Started
The first week of class will be focused on your summer reading, and on a basic introduction to the course. The first two files below offer a course overview, a review of class policies and procedures.
The third file is a bit different: it is an article about the stresses faced by high school students in the demanding programs you take today. In the article, Stanford professor William Damon claims that students spend too much time working for things they don't value: "The biggest problem growing up today is not actually stress; it's meaninglessness." This article will be the start of what we hope will be a journey this year to build greater meaning into your own reading and writing. |
